General Preparation
It is necessary to start out with a squared quilt. If your quilt is not squared, I cannot make it square by quilting it. I measure all quilts before I begin.
All seams need to be secure and pressed flat appropriately. All thread ends need to be clipped and removed prior to bringing your quilt to me. It is helpful to staystitch 1/4" away from the edge of the finished top. This maintains the shape during quilting. If your quilt is directional, please indicate top with a note pinned to the top.
Thread
I use the finest extra long staple cotton quilting thread and premium spun polyester available. I have a wide range of colors available for you to choose from.
Minimum thread charge is $5 per quilt, variegated thread minimum charge is $8 per quilt. Thread color changes are $4 per change.
Batting
I stock premium batting for your convenience. I carry 100% cotton and a cotton/polyester blend. Both fibers come in a variety of lofts. If I don't have what you are looking for, I can special order to meet your needs.
You may also bring in your own batting. I cannot accept Mountain Mist or other unbonded batting as this batting does not machine quilt well and the results are unsatisfactory. Batting must be 8" wider than the quilt top on all sides.
Backing
I have high quality, extra wide muslin for backing available at competitive prices. This is an excellent way to back a quilt. You may also chose to bring your own backing. Backing also needs to be 8" wider than the quilt on all sides. I will seam a backing to your specifications, please see my price list for rates.
Payment
I accept checks, cash and money orders. I will also accept major credit cards through PayPal.
I require 50% of the estimated total cost before beginning on your quilt and the remainder upon completion of the quilting. If the quilt is not paid for in full within 10 days of first notification of completion, there will be a $20 storage fee assessed.
